Built by Operators. Grounded in Finance.

Powering the energy transition through faster deployment, disciplined execution + better use of underutilized grid capacity.
Our Story

Ground Floor Energy brings together deep renewable power expertise, decades of project finance experience + years in the trenches as quantitative traders.

We build and operate utility-scale batteries that increase returns for generators, lower electricity costs for large consumers and stabilize the grid. Our innovative site sourcing process skips long interconnection delays so we can deploy faster. Then we layer on our best-in-class software platform for maximum operational efficiency and profitability. We do all this while reducing grid congestion and improving sustainability.
Our Approach
Proven Company Builders
We have built multiple companies from zero to exit.
Engineering-Led Execution
We are engineers with decades of hands-on experience taking massive projects from concept to operation.
Smarter Deployment Strategy
We focus on rapid deployment of small and mid-size projects at overlooked and underutilized sites where grid conditions and electricity market dynamics support strong economics.
Financed for Sustainable Operations
After decades on Wall Street financing deals for energy and infrastructure projects, we know how to structure the capital stack for long-term sustainable operations.
Data-Driven Efficiency
Our founder and CEO built and exited a company delivering nanosecond-precision data APIs for the world’s most profitable quant traders. Ground Floor Energy applies a similar approach to improving outcomes for grid-scale battery storage and accelerating grid decarbonization.

Careers @ Ground Floor

We’re looking for people who want to learn fast, take ownership + help us scale our vision for impactful, profitable battery infrastructure projects.
Frequently Asked Questions

Key things to know about our business, projects + philosophy.

Ground Floor Energy develops, builds and operates utility-scale battery storage projects – from site diligence and interconnection strategy through financing, construction and ongoing operations. Our focus is building a diversified portfolio of battery assets that can perform through real market conditions, not chasing one-off development wins. We prioritize overlooked and underutilized sites where storage can be deployed efficiently, then use software and analytics to maximize operational performance over time.

We focus on existing or underutilized grid access because interconnection can be one of the biggest bottlenecks in storage development. It can determine whether a project takes years to move forward or becomes viable on a much tighter timeline. When grid access is already in place, we can spend more time on the things that actually advance a project – design, permitting, financing, construction and operations. It also allows us to unlock hidden capacity that might otherwise sit unused.

While the specifics vary by project, we underwrite projects on a foundation of durable, bankable revenue streams, including contracted energy, capacity and grid services where available. From there, active power market participation can add upside – for example, through load shifting, dispatch optimization or participation in multiple market opportunities where appropriate. We generally view this market upside as additive, not the basis of the investment case.

We are closer to a builder-operator than a pure developer. That means we optimize for assets we can finance, build and operate well over time, with disciplined underwriting, repeatable site selection and operating performance as top priorities. Our goal is not simply to originate projects, but to create battery assets that perform reliably and profitably across their full lifecycle.

We prioritize sites with legacy or underutilized interconnection, where storage can be deployed efficiently and scaled thoughtfully without unnecessary development lift. That often means working with asset owners that already have a physical footprint and grid relationship and want to unlock more value from it. Depending on the opportunity, that can include factories, universities, industrial facilities, brownfields, decommissioned plants and other overlooked sites with strong underlying grid and market characteristics.

We deliver a turnkey, fully financed project: we handle diligence, design, permitting, financing, construction management and ongoing operations. For site owners, that means a way to participate in the economics of battery storage – often through a long-term revenue-sharing structure – without having to become a battery company themselves. The result is a new revenue opportunity from underutilized land or electrical capacity, with Ground Floor managing the development and operating burden.

No. We build across multiple sites, partner types, market structures and geographic regions to reduce concentration risk and strengthen stability as the portfolio grows. That diversification is central to how we think about scaling: not dependence on a single asset or market, but a portfolio that can compound over time across a range of real operating conditions.

Start with a short conversation. If you are a site owner or potential partner, we will talk through your site, interconnection, footprint and constraints to assess whether there may be a fit. If you are an investor, we will walk through our portfolio strategy, how we underwrite downside and where we see upside through disciplined deployment and operations. If you have a site or idea, we are always happy to explore it together.
